Moxie 6.14.5625 released

On Tuesday May 5, 2015 Omnivex released a new version of Moxie – 6.14.5625. Moxie is available in two editions; Moxie Enterprise and Moxie Commercial. Existing Moxie customers with AMS can upgrade to the version they have purchased - Enterprise or Commercial. Moxie Server is supported on Windows Server 2008 and 2012. Moxie Studio and Player are supported on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

This release includes many new features and improvements.  A summary of the changes is listed below.  For information on obtaining the latest Moxie release, contact Omnivex Technical Services or download from the links below.  We recommend staying current and recommend you plan your upgrade now!

New Features:

 

Layout Designer

 

New design aids
  • Support for grids and sub-grids, rulers, guides and snap-to-line in design window. You can find a demonstration of this feature in the instructional video section of our web site.
Dynamic QR Code zone
  • Automatically generates QR code from static text, data-bound cell text or URL on the fly.
  • Your dynamic content can direct your customers to unique web locations.
New type of image zone - image data range
  • With file locators in data cells, you just point to the data range and your files are displayed in your layout
Text auto-shrink
  • Greatly enhances variable-length text that exceeds the width or height of a text zone to dynamically change.
  • Applies to both types of data-bound text; single or collection
Zoom-to-fit button and new scale – makes layout designing easier and faster
  • When you open an existing or new layout, Moxie automatically sizes it to best fit the open window on your desktop. Also added additional controls for quick access; CTRL and plus or minus key zooms the layout to pre-defined levels.
  • Mouse wheel works to zoom layout (hold CTRL key down and rotate mouse wheel up or down).
Thumbnail creation

  • generates image thumbnails of the layout and layout zones for use in QuickLink

Playlist BUILDER

Playlist syncing improved to support nested parents.
 

System Manager

Improved security and client access using Passphrase and Player IDs. A passphrase is a sequence of words or other text used to control access to your Data Server. A passphrase is similar to a password in usage, but is generally longer for added security. Passphrases add a layer of security when players are connecting to your Data Server.
 
A Player ID is used to uniquely identify a player on initial connection to a Data Server and enables the systems administrator to pre-define content that runs on the player when it is launched for the first time.
 

Data Manager

 
Enhancements to databinding using offsets
  • Offsets are now more user-friendly via visible UI button in databinding window
  • Support for sheet offsets
Workspace import and export
  • Improved feedback in the User Interface; processing progress displayed in a separate window with any warnings and errors identified
  • Improved media file metadata
  • When a video is uploaded/imported into Data Server, its length (if available in the file format meta data) is added as a user metadata item associated with the video:

    • Metadata field is named PlaybackDuration
    • Duration value is taken from the media file metadata itself (if available)
    • Playlist Builder displays this duration for video items
 

Moxie Installer

There is now a Player-only installer to reduce the size of package delivered to players
 
Default content for player
  • Players can now display default content when first launched. Omnivex supplied image or customer-supplied content appears on newly launched players when they first register with the Data Server
  • Initial content can be altered in System Manager and options and can be a schedule, playlist, layout or media file
 

Improved Client/Server Communications

For communication of data cell changes between Data Server and Moxie clients, there is now a Dedicated DataPipe port.  This greatly enhances the speed of real-time updates to the players in the network.
