A new version of Moxie has been released. Moxie is now available in two editions; Moxie Enterprise and Moxie Commercial to address different markets. Moxie Commercial uses the same interface as Moxie Enterprise less certain modules to simplify operation and reduce cost. Existing Moxie customers with AMS will upgrade to Moxie Enterprise. The Moxie Server is supported on Windows Server 2008 and 2012. The Moxie Studio and Player are supported on Windows 7 and Windows Embedded 8 Industry. This version of Moxie also supports .NET Framework 4.0 and 4.5.
New Features
See KB313 for additional information
- There are now two editions of Moxie: Enterprise and Commercial.
- Moxie Enterprise is available as a cost-free upgrade to all existing Moxie customers who also have AMS. This edition of Moxie includes Omnivex QuickLink.
- Moxie Commercial has a similar look-and-feel as Moxie Enterprise with a smaller feature set. This simplifies operation, reduces cost and is designed for installations that don’t require the full suite of management controls and don’t have complex network requirements. Moxie Commercial supports up to 50 Moxie Players. This edition of Moxie does not include any data linking products, Moxie Proxy Server, Sync Manager, Script Manager, Permission Manager, Log Server or QuickLink. DataPipe and other data-linking products can be purchased for Moxie Commercial separately.
- Omnivex QuickLink has been added to the Moxie Enterprise edition. It extends local content management and contribution functionality through the use of a common web browser. QuickLink cannot be purchased separately and it is only available to Moxie Enterprise customers.
- FIPS compliance has been reinstated.
- New View Missing Content button in the Player Manager identifies unresolved items (files or sheets) in a Player transmission.
- Enhancements have improved communication between the Moxie Player, Moxie Studio and Moxie Data Server.
- Improvements have been made to charting functionality, such as setting fixed min/max-axis values and adding custom palette colors.
- System Manager can now be used to remove servers and services.
- Additional artwork and prebuilt templates have been added to the 6.12 sample workspace
Changes
- The Windows Event Log is now updated when Moxie Data Server cannot connect to the SQL Server database at startup, and as data is written.
- A Moxie Player’s status no longer transmits when System Manager and Player Manager are not in use. This was designed to reduce unnecessary communication. This option is configurable and can be changed.
- Log Server now processes content logs in a consecutive, logical order based on the time of receipt.
- Moxie Studio now manages connection state. Previously, Moxie Data Server had the responsibility of sending all Moxie Players’ connection state once a minute. This occasionally resulted in inaccurate state reporting because of bandwidth and processing constraints and limitations. Now, a question mark is displayed, representing a player’s status, if a player is connected but has not sent a status update in over 5 minutes.
- Now, when a Moxie Data Server service is shutdown, it won’t receive any incoming connections. This permits an unimpeded shutdown process and reduces unnecessary network communication.
- XMLLink has been updated from version 3.07.025 to version 3.07.029.
Known Issues
- Simultaneously deleting more than 10 items; including Moxie Studios, Players, and Services, in the System Manager module, may not remove all items. It is recommended that not more than 10 items are selected for deletion at a time.
- Video Syncing between Players can drift when using Windows 8.1. This problem relates to an issue in the operating system and has been reported to Microsoft.
- Dynamically changing channels on video capture devices is not functional, Moxie does support fixed channels.
- A sync task will not execute if the folder path name ends with one of the following strings: "layout", "play", "sched", "convert", "mmap", "script", scripttask" or "metadata". For example, if you define a path as “C:\QLSync\Lobby Display” the sync task will fail because the path ends in the word “play”.
