Summary

Extended Display Identification Data (EDID), is a standard data format that contains basic information about a display device and its capabilities. The information is stored in the display device by the manufacturer and, when the device is connected to a PC, communicates its capabilities to a display adapter. The PC uses this information for configuration purposes so the monitor and system can work together.

EDID includes information such as:

KB230: How to: Configure Windows properties to run the Moxie Player as a screen saver

Summary

You want to configure your Moxie Player to be a screen saver.

Solution

The Moxie Player screen saver is installed with Moxie Player and is selected from the list of available screen savers.

Moxie Player can be run as a screen saver rather than a stand alone Windows application.

Note: A user must be logged on to the computer.

KB236: How to: Use a PowerPoint file as content in your Moxie layout

Summary

You want to use a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as content in a Moxie layout.

Omnivex Moxie can display Microsoft PowerPoint files in a layout if you have PowerPoint installed and properly configured on your Moxie Studio and Player computers. This is accomplished by directing a Web zone to a PowerPoint PPS or PPSX file where the Web zone will then use PowerPoint to display the slide show content in your layout.

Solution

KB238: How to: Export your PowerPoint file for use as Moxie content

Summary

Using a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as content in a Moxie layout.

Microsoft PowerPoint slides can be exported as a collection of image files for use in a Moxie image or media zone within a layout or a playlist. Displaying slide show content as a collection of images eliminates the need for an installation of Microsoft PowerPoint on your Moxie Studio or Player computers and takes advantage of Moxie's native image support.

Solution

KB253: How to: Manually update your Moxie Data Server license

Summary

Omnivex Moxie has the functionality to automatically update a license by writing the license file into the installation directory for a Moxie Data Server. Typically, this is the method that works for most installations.

Occasionally, the automatic update process is prevented from completing because of network firewalls or other network security protocols. Should this be the case, then a manual update of the license file is required.
