KB139: Your query returns an "Unable to retrieve data" message

Symptom

When you run your query, you get the "Unable to retrieve data" message.

Cause

There are two reasons why this message would be returned:

  1. There is a problem with the syntax of your query which makes it invalid.
  2. Your ODBC connection was created using the ODBC Data Source Administrator from the Users DSN tab.

Solution

Ensure that the query is valid and has correct syntax.

KB140: When you launch your Moxie Studio, it says Loading... but your Modules never load

Symptom

When you launch your Moxie Studio, it says Loading... but your Modules never load or appear in your Modules list.

Cause

Your Moxie Studio is unable to connect to your Data Server, either because there is no longer a Data Server at the specified location or the specified location does not exist.

Solution

Connect to a different Data Server or change your Data Server connection configuration.

KB157: You can’t start the Moxie Player or Studio applications because the local Moxie Agent service won’t start

Symptom

When you start your Moxie Studio, it appears to be unregistered and you cannot connect to the Omnivex Moxie Data Server.

When you manually try to start the Omnivex Moxie Data Server service or the Omnivex Moxie Agent service from the Services window, you see an error message.

Cause

Your services can't start because the Windows Event Log is full and not allowing your service to write new events to it.

KB165: You changed your desktop configuration and now you can't see some windows or dialogs

Symptom

You have removed your secondary monitor or changed your desktop layout using the Windows Display Properties and now some of your Omnivex program windows or dialog boxes no longer appear. It may appear as though your Omnivex program has frozen after clicking a button or menu option but the program is actually waiting for an off screen dialog to be closed.

Cause

KB182: Software supported by Omnivex Moxie

Summary

Omnivex Moxie supports many different file formats, including some file formats that require additional software in order for those files to be displayed properly. Depending on the content you intend to use in your design, the following is a list of necessary or useful applications that you should install and upgrade before you set up your Moxie Studio PC. Ensure you have downloaded the latest available versions.

Note: The specified software needs to be installed on your Moxie Studio PC as well as all Moxie Player PCs.

KB185: Software required to run Moxie

Summary

Moxie was developed using Microsoft's .NET Framework to take advantage of the graphical functionality in several areas including transparency, rotation and reflection. In order to install and run Moxie on your PC you need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4. This software is available from Microsoft, both through Windows Update and as a direct download from their Website.
